GE’s Power Services business will provide Ojsc Togliatti Azot (ToAz) with parts to upgrade two GE industrial steam turbines at the company’s ammonia production facility in the city of Togliatti.

A paradigm change in solids production is underway in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The trend to increased specialization and higher-potency active ingredients creates the need for hermetically sealed process flows. To an increasing extent, the production process will have to be designed as a containment system.

The deal has been carried out through both the companies’ joint venture firm – Helios. Under the agreement, Sonatrach will recover helium from two existing LNG facilities and supply it to Helios’ existing liquid helium plant. Two new air separation plants will also be constructed via this deal.

Baltania has awarded Pöyry an assignment for Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services for the new Torrefied Pellet Plant project in Vägari, Estonia. The assignment includes project management, basic engineering, procurement and site supervision services.

ZPC plans to build a new Polycarbonate-line at its petrochemical and refinery site on Dayushan Island, PR China. The company has recently licensed EPC’s Variplant technology for the new 260,000-tons/year-production line.

Perstorp announced the sale of Bio Products, a producer of biodiesel and glycerine in Scandinavia, to a Swedish investor together with a member of the subsidiary’s management team. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

BP, on behalf of co-venturers Shell, Chevron and Conoco Phillips, announced first oil production from the giant Clair Ridge project in the West of Shetland region offshore UK. Clair Ridge is the second phase of development of the Clair field, 75 kilometres West of Shetland. The field, which was discovered in 1977, has an estimated seven billion barrels of hydrocarbons.

The Russian iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, Metalloinvest, and the German technology company Linde have signed an agreement for a long-term supply of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon to Ural Steel (part of Metalloinvest).

Essar Oil plans to invest a further US $ 180 million in its 20 MTPA Vadinar refinery after an initial modernisation prgram (worth US $ 45 million) during a shutdown in fall 2015.

Maag, a leading global manufacturer of gear pumps, pelletizing systems, filtration systems, and pulverizers, has announced the opening of its first sales and service center in India which includes a world-class rotor sharpening workshop for strand pelletizers. The opening of the new India service facility follows the recent expansion of Maag’s sales and service center in Thailand.
