China: Facility Development Petro China Begins Construction of 600,000 Tonne Ethane Cracker Plant

Singapore – Petro China commenced construction of a new 600,000 tonne per year ethane cracker at Korla in China's northwestern region of Xinjiang on April 10.

The 1.3 billion dollar project will include two polyethylene (PE) lines, each with a 300,000 tonne per year capacity.

Petro China plans to complete the construction of the plant by June 2021.

The petrochemical major will self-supply ethane feedstock from the Tarim oilfield, which it operates and from which it can extract 762,000 tonne per year of ethane.
