Lyon/France – Apart from the increased hydroquinone production in China, Solvay's Global Business Unit announced plans to extend its worldwide methyl hydroquinone (MEHQ also referred to as PMP – paramethoxyphenol) capacity. Both projects are intended to support the company's own demands as well as of growing HQ and MEHQ markets, particularly in Asia.
“This decision will strengthen the company leading position in growing markets like Monomer inhibition with a full range of solutions including PTZ coming from Cytec acquisition, Specialty polymers and Coatings applications as well as Food & Feed antioxidants on which we are positioning ourselves” says Dominique Rage, President of the GBU. “This major capacity increase enhances our reliability towards our customers and will allow for new growth opportunities” he adds.
