Nouryon has begun production at its new manufacturing facility in China to support the increasing Asian demand of polymers used in the packaging, paint and coatings and construction end-markets. The plant has an annual capacity of 35,000 tons and will produce two key intermediates – tert-Butyl hydroperoxide and tert-Butyl alcohol.
The new project is part of Ineos’ recent 2 billion dollar plus green hydrogen investment announcement in Europe. Under the new project, Ineos’ subsidiary Inovyn will develop a 100 MW electrolyzer at its Koln site in Germany in order to produce green hydrogen which will be used to manufacture green ammonia. The project will also develop E-Fuels through Power-to-Methanol applications at an industrial scale at the site.
Under a MOU signed between BASF and Sanyo Chemical, both the companies will team up to create advanced polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) to produce sustainable products. The innovative new products will have world-wide market access through the two companies' global footprint, with the MOU allowing both the firms to leverage on production networks for PUDs.
Located in Greenville, South Carolina, USA, Solvay’s new thermoplastic composites manufacturing unit will help the company to manufacture unidirectional composite tape from a range of high-performance polymers including PVDF, PPS and PEEK.

BASF has sold the production site for styrene-butadiene-based paper dispersions in Pischelsdorf, Austria to Synthomer Austria. The agreed purchase price amounts to approx. $ 37 million.
