Nippon Shokubai Indonesia has plans to establish the facility owing to the rising demand of Acrylic Acid in Asia. With this move, the Nippon Group aims to produce 980,000 tonnes per year of Acrylic Acid by November 2021.

Indonesia – Nippon Shokubai Co. has recently announced that on July 11, 2019, its subsidiary PT Nippon Shokubai Indonesia (hereinafter NSI) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Acrylic Acid (AA) plant in Cilegon, Banten, Indonesia.
AA, one of Nippon Shokubai’s core businesses, shows steady growth of demand as a key material for superabsorbent polymers (SAP) and acrylates (AES), etc. In recent years, the demand and supply balance of AA is highly tight especially in Asia. To accommodate the demand and fulfil its responsibility to supply products, Nippon Shokubai concluded to expand the capacity of NSI in October 2018.
With this new plant at NSI, Nippon Shokubai group’s global AA production capacity will increase (please refer to the details below), which enables to maintain even more stable supply-ability.
