PROCESS: This March BTS has set up an office in Singapore. So what is the strategy of BTES in its development in Asia?
Dr. Franke: The Asia market, and also BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries will be the key development engines of the world, and this is also true for BTS. Bayer Technology Services has set up a three-pillar growth strategy: customers, products, and regions. In China besides our Asian Headquarters at Caojing in Shanghai, we have another design office in Shanghai downtown, and offices in Zhangjiagang and Beijing. Since China is to stimulate the growth of the West, BTES is also evaluating to open a new office in Western China. To stay close to customer is one of our core strategies. The Singapore Office is the Asean office of BTS, covering our businesses in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. Several months ago we just opened an office in Mumbai India, and another in Middle East. BTS is now planning to open offices in Brazil and Russia in the near future.
PROCESS: What is the future plan of BTES, and what is your mission in your tenure?
Dr. Franke: We will keep growing our business. More technology will be transferred to serve the needs of the local customers, and external sales are targeted to increase. People are our core assets, and to recruit, keep, and develop talents remains a challenge to the management in the dynamic China market. To me the most important is to grasp the opportunity. My former experience in Germany and four years in Americas were mainly in mature markets, while here in Asia especially in China we see opportunities and dynamics everywhere. It is to me both challenging and exciting!
Dr. Franke, thank you very much for the interview.
