PROCESS: How is Baumer positioned globally now as far as the PI segment is concerned?
ZIPS: I think, we have a complete portfolio in process instrumentation segment. Baumer originally came from factory automation, and then we entered into process automation. Baumer acquired Bourdon Haenni who originally invented Bourdon tube (basic sensor of pressure gauge). This is how Baumer is owner of ‘original Bourdon.’
PROCESS: How will Baumer Group push its factory automation products now in India?
WARIALANI: Baumer is already present in India since 2007 in Pune. It is known as Baumer India, and that is a separate entity. Baumer India, Pune deals with sensors and factory automation products of Baumer and is headed by Sunil Hasabnis.

PROCESS: Why does Baumer maintain two separate entities in India?
WARIALANI: Baumer Technologies India (BTIL) and Baumer India (BAIN) cater to two different segments. They do have some overlapping segments – but overall their groups of customers are different.
Baumer Technologies caters to process instruments market and also R&D. On the other side, Baumer India – Pune, caters to factory automation and sensor products – for which there is a well-defined market segment and customers.
Since both the markets are well defined in terms of market segment and buying agencies, by keeping the two entities different, we can provide the best solution and focus to our customers in all the segments.
