Polymer Industries Xianglu Petrochemical to Become Number Two on Chinese PTA Market

Xianglu Petrochemical aims for a leading position among China's PTA producers: The company plans a new two million tons/year production facility for this important basic feedstock for the polymer industry in Zhangzhou, South–Eastern China.

Zhangzhou/PR China – With an new production facility, Xianglu Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Xianglu Tenglong Group, plans to expand its production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) capacity by two million

tons per year until the end of 2012, company speakers say. Xianglu currently plans a new PTA plant at its site in Zhangzhou, province Fujian, where the firma currently builds a new 800,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) production line.

With the facility, Xianglu could supply 3.65 million tons of PTA per year, analysts say. This would make the company the second largest PTA producer in China after Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical. Commercial operations for the Zhangzhou plant are expected by the third quarter of 2012.
