Global sourcing from one hand
Within the standardisation process the task was now to implement the specified new standards together with all project participants, e.g. the machine and the plant supplier, OEMs. The fact, that some of the suppliers for the project were located in different European countries, makes the project even more complicated. Festo supported this difficult project environment by its strength: being a global provider of automation solutions. By the international sales and service structures it was possible for Festo to ensure, that all the deliveries of OEMs out of the involved countries followed the same project standards. By this, the individual machines and facilities fit seamlessly in the whole automation structure without causing any problem. Standardization saved time during commissioning and start-up and also helped to avoid problems due to incompatibility of components or systems. The pre-assembled systems were directly delivered to the plant fully mounted, inspected and approved – equipped with all design data, circuit diagram and operating guarantee at fixed price. End Users like B. Braun don’t get only hardware as pre.-assembled cabinets or subsystems, they get also a complete value add package. An integrated solution relieves the qualified personnel, keeps the engineering efforts low, simplifies the purchasing process und reduces the overall process costs. „Mount it and forget it, this is the objective of our customers“, explains Jürgen Weber, Manager Key Account Management Process Automation Germany at Festo.
