Standardized from process to packaging

The heart of the automation is at the sensor-actuator-level the valve terminal CPX/MPA mounted in cabinets. Due to the flexible control and monitoring concept it is possible to connect all feedback sensors, actuators and process valves to the I/O-modules of the valve terminal, which itself is connected via Profibus to the DCS. It controls 2.000 membrane and other types of process valves in the pharmaceutical production. From the process facilities to the packing machines B. Braun can now count on standardized technology. In a list of recommended products for the project B. Braun summarized all pneumatic and electronic devices (e.g. Remote I/Os) and the sub systems – from valve terminal CPX/MPA to air preparation (MS-series) to flow control sensor MS6-SFE and finally also the pre-assembled cabinets. For completing the pneumatic control loop system also the standard cylinders, one-way control valves, fittings, tubes and the proximity switches appear on this list of approved products. The achieved Single-Sourcing saves costs and raises the efficiency of the purchasing process. Especially the standardized valve terminal cabinets allow the plant manufacturer, OEMs, consultants and also B. Braun itself to concentrate on their own core competencies. Festo designed, built and delivered 45 pre-assembled cabinets with valve terminals and Remote I/Os for direct mounting at the plant.
