Digital Twin Solutions is Now the New Normal – Covid-19 has transformed industries like never before and the oil and gas sector is no exception to this. The demand for digital twin technologies is at an all-time high amidst the pandemic and major industry players are already making use of this technology for numerous significant projects.

Under an agreement signed between Linde and Heidelberg Materials, both the firms will jointly develop and operate a large-scale carbon capture and liquefaction facility in Germany. The new project aims to capture, liquefy and purify around 70,000 tons of CO₂ annually.

Under a MOU signed between the Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, a subsidiary of Chevron, and the Government of Angola, both the parties will aim to explore potential lower carbon business opportunities in the African region.

The joint project ‘Pülpegas’ will be developing an innovative industrial biogas plant with a capacity of up to 60GWh/year at the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park in Germany. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the project will demonstrate wheat pulp mono-fermentation on an industrial scale.

Nuberg EPC has bagged an EPC contract from Spolana for developing a 550 TPD sulphuric acid plant project in Czech Republic. The company will also be making use of the latest Double Conversion Double Absorption technology for this project.

Yokogawa Electric has been selected to supply an energy management system for the Yuri Green Hydrogen Project in Australia. Once complete, the project is expected to produce up to 640 tons of green hydrogen annually.

Repsol has entered into a partnership with the largest professional agricultural organization in Spain Asaja to encourage the circular economy and transform agricultural and livestock waste to produce renewable fuels and circular materials at its industrial complexes.

The South Korean company LG Chem has signed a MOU with Netspa under which it will be responsible for sorting and processing plastics from marine wastes. LG Chem will then use it to produce recycled plastics.

Topsoe has set an ambitious plan to reduce its customers’ greenhouse gas emissions by 12 million tons this year and intends to continue working in the same direction for the coming years. The reductions will mainly come from Topsoe’s renewable fuels business.
