Needle Valves

Open the Valves of Performance

Small things make big differences: Although needle valves are comparably simple in construction, the effects of an ill-suited valve selection can be quite drastic. Problems, ranging from issues with standard compliance to contamination or even process failure, are typical consequences of low quality or simply inapt valves. The benefits of needle valves, on the other hand can be quite big — if the proper component is selected.

Each pharmaceutical pack must be equipped with a batch number and expiry date. In future, a machine readable code such as a data matrix code with a serial number must be additionally printed onto each pack. The serial number at the package level is one of the most important strategies laid down in recent guidance and legislations. (Picture: Bosch Packaging Technology)

How to Fight Pharmaceutical Counterfeiting

Counterfeiters are increasingly targeting the pharmaceutical supply chain – a dangerous trend that can have fatal consequences. All supply chain players can contribute to increased safety, from producers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) to packagers and equipment manufacturers, supported by numerous initiatives and legislative efforts.

High-pressure mass flow controllers are often used to control gas flow in chemical processes, both in research and in production environments. (Bronkhorst)

Is There a Cheap Alternative for Flowmeters?

There might be a cheaper way to measure the volume stream: Control valves like the Vary-P by Bronkhorst for controlling high-pressure gas flow with high pressure differences of up to 400 bar (later on extended to 700 bar!) can be used as a more compact and cheaper alternative to flow meters, which are combined with valves that are controlled pneumatically or using a servomotor. For controlling process pressure, Vary-P valves are often combined with pressure meters.
