Many countries across the globe are committing to fast-track their decarbonization projects in order to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is part of this global effort but it distinguishes itself by building mega projects that are set to become landmark examples of sustainable transformation.

Supported by 94 million euros from the EU Innovation Fund, Topsoe’s mega facility is expected to manufacture high-efficiency electrolysis stacks for industrial-scale green hydrogen production. The factory will initially manufacture 500 MW of electrolyzers annually.

Topsoe’s Syncor technology will be licensed for Sandpiper Chemicals’ new blue methanol plant in Texas, USA. The project is expected to produce 3,000 metric tons per day of blue methanol on completion.

Under an agreement signed between Topsoe and Zhejiang Jianglan, Topsoe will provide technology and services for sustainable aviation fuels production in China. The plant is expected to produce 300,000 tons of SAF annually which will initially be exported to European markets.

Countrymark’s Indiana refinery processes 35,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Now with Topsoe’s Hydroflex technology, the facility aims to produce up to 250,000 barrels of renewable diesel annually.
