Under the Larsen and Lam Climate Initiative, Omni CT’s unique ‘Waste to Hydrogen Product’ technology will be used to tackle the issues of climate change. 35 million dollars will be invested by this Initiative for developing Omni CT’s first commercial production plant in California, USA which will produce negative carbon hydrogen.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) will be building a world-scale ‘blue’ ammonia production facility at the Ta’ziz industrial ecosystem and chemicals hub in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE. With an expected capacity of 1,000 kilo tons per annum, the plant will enable the company to explore opportunities in hydrogen and hydrogen carrier fuels.

The newly formed joint venture will be majorly owned by BASF with a stake of 51 % while China’s Shanshan will hold the remaining stake of 49 %. The new joint venture will produce cathode active materials and precursors for the huge battery materials market in China.

Indorama Ventures has plans to upgrade and add capacity at its manufacturing plant in Nagpur, India. The firm intends to establish a new PET resin manufacturing facility, add additional balancing equipment, and a large range of specialty yarns.

Leybold has further expanded its Turbovac i/iX pump family especially for industrial, coating and research applications that require robust pumps with higher pumping speeds. The new 1350 and 1450 sizes and its variants have been developed to maximize the pumping speeds. With these variants, the Turbovac i/iX series is now complete with 8 models ranging from 90 to 1450 l/s sizes.

With the help of special bacteria and an innovative process concept, BASF and Lanzatech have been able to produce n-octanol at laboratory scale from carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The combination of Lanzatech’s gas fermentation technology into BASF’s Verbund will help the firms to move into the direction of a carbon-neutral circular economy.

Orlen Unipetrol has recently commissioned a pyrolytic testing unit for processing waste-plastics at its chemical plant in Litvínov, Czech Republic. With this move, the company intends to expand the conventional fuel and plastic production from fossil fuels with new sources that will lead to the decarbonization of the country.

The Plastics Europe association has revealed that European plastics manufacturers are planning a significant increase in chemical recycling investment i.e. from 3.17 billion USD in 2025 to 8.7 billion USD in 2030. With this move, manufacturers will aim to produce 1.2MT in 2025 and 3.4 MT in 2030 of recycled plastics.

The Singapore Economic Development Board (Singapore EDB) has stated in its recent release the country’s business sentiments for April – September 2021. It further mentions that the biomedical manufacturing cluster expects a positive business environment for the above-mentioned period while the chemicals cluster expects output to increase in the next quarter.
