DNV together with 18 industry leaders have collaborated to launch a new Joint Industry Project to enhance the standardization for safe and cost-efficient hydrogen production systems that use electrolysis powered by renewable energy to produce green hydrogen. A certification scheme is also being developed for electrolyzer projects.

AkzoNobel’s scale-up program will assist the company to maintain flexibility against supply disruptions as well as achieve its Scope 3 (upstream) carbon reduction ambitions. The firm is expected to contribute around 17 to 23 million dollars in EBITDA by 2023 with this strategic move.

With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the British multinational oil and gas major BP has plans to quit its 20 % share in Russia’s state-owned company Rosneft. BP chief executive officer Bernard Looney as well as former BP group chief executive Bob Dudley have also resigned from the board of Rosneft with immediate effect.

Under a long-term agreement signed between Linde and BASF, Linde will build and operate a new hydrogen production facility at Chalampé, France in order to supply hydrogen and steam to BASF’s new hexamethylenediamine manufacturing facility in the country.

Trinseo has teamed up with global technology provider Synova and global engineering services company Worley to establish the mega chemical recycling plant which is expected to process 15 kilotons of recycled polystyrene flakes every year. The flakes will then be converted into high quality recycled styrene to enable further production of polystyrene.

Lanxess is expanding its production capacity for the active ingredient Preventol CMK (chlorocresol) at the Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany, site by around 50 percent in response to the continuing strong demand for disinfectants and industrial preservation. The specialty chemicals company has invested a single-digit million euro amount for the expansion, which will be completed still in the first quarter of 2022.

thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers has bagged a contract from Air Products to supply a mega electrolysis plant to the green hydrogen project at NEOM in Saudi Arabia. The company is expected to engineer, procure and fabricate the plant based on its 20 MW alkaline water electrolysis module.
