Eastman has entered into exclusive negotiations with Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine for developing the mega plant project in Normandy, France. The project, which was announced earlier at the beginning of the year, is expected to recycle approximately 160,000 tons of hard-to-recycle polyester waste annually.

Vynova has recently installed a hydrogen-fired steam boiler at its Tessenderlo site in Belgium and is also planning to add another boiler by the year end. With these, the firm intends to reduce CO2 emissions by 10,000 tons per year at its site.

Neste aims to scale up processing capabilities for liquefied waste plastic at its Porvoo refinery in Finland. The development will enable the company to meet its goal of processing over 1 million tons of waste plastic annually.

Under the terms of the contact, Petrofac will complete Phase 1 of the decommissioning of the Northern Endeavour FPSO facility which will include decommissioning and disconnection of the FPSO from its subsea equipment, and temporarily suspending the wells.

DL E&C has awarded KBR with an ammonia technology contract for Neurizer’s carbon-neutral fertilizer project in Australia. The 1,600 MTPD ammonia plant will be based on KBR’s Purifier process.

Under a contract, China’s Shandong Eco Chemical Co. will license Versalis’ proprietary continuous mass technology for its 210 KTPY Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plant in China.

China’s GDP shrunk 6.8 % in the last quarter as compared with a year earlier. The country’s chemical manufacturing output declined by 21 % and profits by 66 % in the first two months of 2020 due to the coronavirus scenario. However, now with the virus defeated, the East Asian nation hopes to improve these figures.

Baker Hughes and Dussur have plans to form a chemicals joint venture which will focus on providing oilfield and industrial chemicals in Saudi Arabia. Baker Hughes will own 51 % of the new joint venture while Dussur will own 49 %.

Celanese will be taking over more than 80 % of DuPont’s Mobility & Materials business including its Engineering Polymers business line and select product lines within the Performance Resins and Advanced Solutions business lines. The deal compliments Celanese’s business and will help speed up the company’s growth in future mobility, connectivity and medical.
