With the new plant, Sumitomo Chemical plans to strengthen its supply of high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates in the background of rising demand for small molecule drugs.

The world scale Acetonitrile production facility will aim to improve Ineos Nitriles’ supply to its customers as well as support the growth of the region’s most strategically important industry sectors. With this investment, Ineos Nitriles plans to bring back production capacity of Acetonitrile to Europe.

Exxonmobil has plans to develop the production unit at its integrated petrochemical complex in Baytown, Texas, USA. With an expected commercial start-up by 2023, the new unit will produce approximately 350,000 metric tons of linear alpha olefins every year.
