Innovation in Tablet Compression Redefining Pharmaceutical Solid Manufacturing

IMA Active has unveiled a new generation of tablet presses, aiming to transform solid-dose manufacturing. The event, dubbed "NEXTEN," took place at Villa Erba, Lake Como, merging Italian elegance with cutting-edge technology. After 25 years of pioneering work, now, with its latest machines, Domina and Solida, the company intends to elevate pharmaceutical manufacturing to new heights.
Innovative technology, Italian flair, and a striking two‑act show—IMA Active’s invitation to “NEXTEN” made the trip to Lake Como worthwhile for both technology and art enthusiasts. First, the venue: Villa Erba, where legendary Italian director and artist Luchino Visconti spent part of his childhood. Second, the “Materia” show by artist Isacco Emiliani, where IMA’s values—ethics and aesthetics—come together: a shimmering kaleidoscope of impressions from nature overlaid with technology from IMA Active’s Solida portfolio.
New Developments for Solid‑Dose Production
Center stage at the event was the unveiling of two new tablet presses—the interim high point of a journey IMA Active began 30 years ago with Comprima. In 2015, the company presented the Prexima series during an Open House in Bologna—again blending lifestyle and engineering in typical IMA fashion. This year, “NEXTEN” at Villa Erba seamlessly continued that tradition as the solid‑dose specialist set out to reshape the pharmaceutical landscape with Domina and Solida. “This is more than an event; it’s a celebration of innovation in tableting,” emphasized IMA’s Chairman and CEO Alberto Vacchi before 300 international attendees. With that, the OSD expert now offers four tablet press families covering a wide range of pharma customer needs.
