Tokyo/Japan – The Chiba Phenol facility was established in 1990 by a cooperation of Mitsui and Idemitsu with a production capacity of 250,000 tons of phenol and 80,000 tons acetone per year. The facility will close on September 30th, company speakers stated.

Mitsui Chemicals will meet Idemitsu's phenol needs by providing in-house produced phenol. The two companies will take actions to intensify cost competitiveness in their respective phenol chains.
