Tokyo/Japan – Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) has recently announced the launch of Green KTF—a mostly plant-based microporous film. Approximately 90 % of Green KTF is derived from natural products such as calcium carbonate and plant-derived polyethylene while having the same performance as conventional KTF. The unique structure of the film has pores large enough to allow water vapor to pass, but small enough to block water droplets.

The manufacturing of this unique plant-based film has been made possible through MCC’s development of a new production method. In comparison to the conventional product, Green KTF releases approximately 30% less CO2 emissions during production, significantly reducing the environmental burden.
