Nanjing/China — In addition to Nanjing, Messer had already commissioned one plant in Yunnan in 2014 and another in Sichuan in 2015. The gas provider is now recovering a total of 300,000 tonnes of CO2 from industrial processes per year in China.

Recovery plants withdrawn carbon dioxide before it can escape into the atmosphere. It is then purified in multiple steps for reuse. The gas can be used in the food industry, for example as the carbon dioxide in beverages.

"Thanks to our provision of high-quality CO2 in food-grade quality, along with our own 120 years of experience, we want to help our customers to improve productivity, lower costs and enhance the quality of their products," says Stefan Messer, owner and CEO of Messer Group.

In addition to the CO2 recovery plant, the company is also commissioning a new technology centre for gas applications in Nanjing.
