And, over eight months, we found three or four pumps like this, and we shut them down, fixed them, and prevented possible catastrophic failures.”

The CSI technology incorporates data that enables it to analyze and recognize the hazardous vibration signatures from such pumps and motors, as well as from other plant equipment, like heat exchangers and cooling towers, toprovide this actionable data.

Energy Management – How Sensor Technology Helps...

Energy management is a major activity in many plants currently, particularly here in petrochemicals, energy might account for 40-50% of operating costs. The Rosemount 708 steam trap leak detector is finding increasing use, particularly as more studies emerge showing steam trap life to be typically 5 years, and plant surveys confirm that typically 22-25% of traps in operation - have actually failed.

Fluor Global Services reported they have identified significant savings by implementing the use of these Rosemount leak detectors. But other Rosemount sensors are working wider than this, in providing data on which plant items are using what proportion of the fuel, or energy. A lot of such work is on board ships, where little has been measured in the past.
