USA: Engineering Contract Toyo to Build 1.4 Million Metric Tons Methanol Plant in Louisiana

Toyo Engineering has been awarded an engineering contract for the G2X Energy Big Lake Fuels Plant, a world-scale methanol production facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. The Proman Group (Proman) is EPC contractor for this project and Toyo is an engineering subcontractor to Proman providing basic and detailed engineering.

Chiba/Japan – Once complete, the facility will produce 1.4 million metric tons of commercial grade methanol per year and will have the necessary facilities to convert methanol to automotive gasoline in the future.

Proman operates one methanol plant in Oman, five methanol plants in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) and one methanol plant in the USA with a total production capacity of 5.0 million metric tons per year. Toyo has worked on the construction and major expansion of the first methanol plant in T&T and construction of the Oman methanol plant as well as construction of Proman’s nitrogen fertilizer complex in T&T.

Toyo’s capacity and capability proven through its performance in these four past projects and the company’s extensive experience and expertise accumulated through recent project execution in Louisiana were highly appreciated by Proman and contributed to this award. Toyo expects to further continue collaboration with Proman in future projects.

This is the TOYO’s third major project award in Louisiana after Polyethylene Project for Sasol Chemicals and Ethylene Project for Shintech and will further enhance the company’s established capability to provide services for major capital projects in US Gulf Coast area.
