Accelerated Development

However before that, Invite researchers will investigate whether and to what extent energy and resource consumption can be reduced with the new process. That is the crucial question on this project which is receiving €30 million in funding from the EU. A third advantage which should not be underestimated is acceleration of the development cycles, which the companies are hoping to achieve. "The vision is to reduce production costs and time to market by 50%,” said Dr. Thomas Bieringer, President of Invite.

Other Research Projects at Invite

Besides F3, two other cross-industry research projects are underway at Invite. In the CO2rrect research initiative, the chemical and energy industries want to create a link between CO2 utilization and regenerative energy. Hydrogen and the development of new electrolysis systems play a key role (see process.de report). Researchers on the Mobidik project are looking at modular production methodologies for the biotechnology sector.
