Egypt: EPC Project Technip FMC Commences Work to Expand Midor’s Refinery

Technip FMC has recently completed all the required conditions for carrying out expansion and modernisation of Midor’s refinery in Egypt. On completion, the modernised complex is expected to produce Euro V products.

London/UK – Technip FMC has successfully completed the remaining conditions required to enable work on the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract awarded by Middle East Oil Refinery. The project involves modernisation and expansion of its existing complex near Alexandria, Egypt.

As previously stated, this major EPC contract covers the debottlenecking of existing units, the delivery of new units including a Crude and Vacuum Distillation Unit, and a hydrogen production facility based on the firm’s steam reforming technology. It will also include various process units, interconnecting, offsites as well as utilities. Starting in 2022, the modernised complex will produce Euro V products, with a 60 % increase in the refinery’s original capacity to 160,000 barrels per day of crude oil.

The contract award will be included in the company’s first quarter 2019 inbound orders in its onshore/offshore segment.
