The application is completely autonomous if the adapter is powered via a solar panel equipped with a battery and the Ex d adapter is connected directly to the Ex d field device.
Power can also be supplied via an existing 4…20 mA loop. The Bullet can be flexibly connected at any point in the 4…20 mA current loop where the relevant conventional or Hart field device is installed. This solution is particularly popular among users for applications where field devices are retrofitted and there is limited space in the switch cabinet. To keep the voltage drop in the loop as low as possible, the device adapts to the available current, meaning other devices are not disrupted. The selectable voltage drop between 1 V and 2.5 V makes it possible to use the adapter even under the toughest conditions in terms of low loop voltage or long cable routes. In a scenario where more energy is available, the Bullet supplies a larger number of WirelessHart packages accordingly. This leads to improved performance of the entire WirelessHart network.
The Optimal Addition for Wireless Hart
The Bullet represents a key addition to the Pepperl+Fuchs range of WirelessHart products. In addition to the flameproof version, it is available in versions for nonhazardous areas and for the connection of Ex i field devices. Loop-powered adapters delivering impressive performance data and a range of unique features are available to integrators and users for use in Class I, Div. 1. Thanks to extensive certifications (Atex, IECEx, USA FM, and Canada FM), with Pepperl+Fuchs, safety is guaranteed for integrators and plant operators in the process industry for all WirelessHart applications.
