Global chemical company OQ Chemicals has signed a final investment decision to build additional propionaldehyde capacity and infrastructure. This will support methacrylate producer Röhm in the construction of a large-scale methyl methacrylate (MMA) production plant.

BP has plans to assess the feasibility of establishing a new hydrogen hub at Wilhelmshaven, Germany as the location is also expected to witness the construction of a large-scale ammonia cracker. The cracker project has the potential to supply up to 130,000 tons of low-carbon hydrogen from green ammonia annually.

Chemicals company Eastman announced a planned increase of its Therminol 66 heat transfer fluid manufacturing capacity in Anniston, USA. The plant expansion is expected to be complete in 2024.

Indorama Ventures and Carbios have plans to establish a joint venture under which it will build a first-of-its-kind PET biorecycling plant in France. The new project is expected to cost around 230 million euros.

Under the terms of the agreement, BP will sell its 50 % stake in the BP-Husky Toledo Refinery in Ohio to its joint venture partner Cenovus Energy for 300 million dollars. BP and Canada-based firm Cenovus are also expected to enter into a multi-year product supply agreement.

Amidst a strong demand for alkoxylates in Europe, BASF has plans to increase its alkoxylation production capacity in excess of 150,000 metric tons per year in order to strengthen its presence in the region.
