Lyondell Basell’s pilot plant will be using the company’s proprietary Moretec advanced recycling technology to convert used plastic waste into feedstock for new plastic materials. The new unit is capable of processing between 5 and 10 kg of household plastic waste per hour.

Sibur will make use of 34 kt of recycled plastics every year to produce the green PET granules at its Polief site in Blagoveshchensk. The move aims to meet the growing demand of eco-friendly PET packaging and is in line with the company’s 2025 Sustainability Strategy.

Together, the MOL Group and Meraxis intend to develop and produce high-quality recycle-based compounds. Under this deal, Meraxis will supply the MOL Group with high-quality, post-consumer recycled materials which will be combined with the firm’s virgin polyolefin resins.

Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company’s new plants include a 280 KTA polypropylene plant and a 480 KTA high-density polyethylene plant which will utilise Lyondell Basell’s Spheripol PP and Hostalen ACP process technology respectively.

Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin attended the online official ceremony to mark the foundation of Sibur’s Amur Gas Chemical Complex project. Once completed, the project is expected to produce 2.3 mtpa of polyethylene and 400 ktpa of polypropylene.

Under the terms of the contracts, KBR will offer its proprietary cracker technology and process design packages for Baofeng Energy’s 500 KTA coal to olefins project & 500 KTA C2-C5 comprehensive utilisation project in China.

Under a joint development agreement, Ineos Styrolution and Recycling Technologies will aim to create a deeper circular economy for polystyrene in Europe. Recycling Technologies’ unique chemical recycling solution will be further developed to recycle polystyrene commercially.

A project will be developed by Repsol and Acteco to increase the production capacity of recycled polyolefins at Acteco’s facility in Spain. The move is in line with Repsol’s objective of becoming a net zero emissions company by 2050.
