Entergy Texas’ Montgomery County Power Station began commercial operations on January 1, 2021. The power station utilized two Mitsubishi Power G-Series air-cooled advanced class gas turbines to provide 993 MW of clean electricity to Southeast Texas, USA.

With biofuels growth plans and the start of a basic engineering phase of a next generation biorefinery, UPM Biofuels is planning to significantly increase their capacity. The potential biorefinery would have an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes of high-quality renewable fuels including sustainable jet fuel.

The aim of the Align-CCUS project is to utilize CO2 in order to reduce CO2 emissions. As a part of this project, a water electrolysis plant has been established by Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz who was responsible for planning, procurement, assembly and commissioning of the unit.

CVR Energy’s subsidiary has selected Haldor Topsoe’s hydroflex technology to revamp its Oklahoma refinery in the USA in order to produce 100 million gallons of renewable diesel per year. Under the terms of the contract, Topsoe will deliver basic engineering, license, proprietary equipment and catalyst for its Hydroflex technology.

With an aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Sumitomo Chemical has plans to create a Carbon Neutral Strategy Council which will enable the company to formulate strategies and set milestones to attain its objective. The organization will also set up a Carbon Neutral Strategy Cross-Functional Team to support the Council.

SFC Energy and Johnson Matthey have partnered together to develop more efficient membrane electrode assemblies for fuel cells. Both the companies also aim to achieve higher overall sustainability with this deal.

In 2020, the Port of Antwerp witnessed a fall in chemical demand; crude oil throughput also fell by 60 % due to reduced refining activities in the background of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The mega project will be carried out at IOCL’s Koyali refinery in Gujarat, India. With this project, the oil giant aims to capture over 250-500 thousand tons of CO₂ in a year initially and use the CO₂ for cost-effectively enhancing oil production from its oil fields.

Monolith Materials has selected KBR’s ammonia technology for its fertiliser project in Hallam, Nebraska, USA. The project is expected to use hydrogen as feedstock from Monolith Materials’ emission-free facility to produce carbon black and ammonia from natural gas, air and 100 % renewable power.

Grön Fuels has selected Haldor Topsoe’s H2bridge bio-hydrogen and hydroflex technology for its new multi-billion low carbon intensity complex in Louisiana, USA. Once completed, the mega facility is expected to produce 60,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel.
