With this project, the partners will make use of innovative measuring technologies and AI to determine the composition of waste plastics in real time.

BASF has unveiled its new production line for water-based dispersions in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. With this new line, the company will be able to increase its production capacity without additional CO2 emissions.

BASF’s proprietary OASE blue technology will be utilized by Forestal for the efficient removal of CO2 from flue gases for the production of e-methanol at its Triskelion project in Galicia, Spain.

A 54 MW water electrolyzer was recently inaugurated at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site in Germany. The electrolyzer is expected to slash greenhouse gas emissions at BASF’s main plant by up to 72,000 metric tons per year.

Under a MOU signed between both the parties, BASF and Exterra will work together to explore opportunities to deploy a commercial scale carbon capture and storage project in Quebec, Canada. The project will also make use of a combination of BASF’s Oase gas treatment technology and Exterra’s Reactive Oxide to Carbonate System as part of its integrated carbon storage services.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action has approved funding to BASF for developing the world’s largest industrial heat pump for CO2-free steam generation at its Ludwigshafen site in Germany. The heat pump is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 98 % at the site.

The pilot plant has the capacity to recycle complex waste streams from end-of-life vehicles via chemical recycling in order to produce raw materials for new vehicle components such as foam for steering wheels.
