Lummus Technology has recently announced the commercial launch of the Thermacrack C5 technology. The new technology aims to increase production efficiency and reduce capital investment for specialty chemicals.

Aquatech has plans to acquire Metichem, a leader in advanced water-treatment chemicals and O&M services in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. With this move, Aquatech aims to expand its capacity to deliver complete water lifecycle solutions to industrial customers across the globe.

Nextchem has successfully completed the acquisition of Ballestra group. The group is one of the leading global players in the licensing, design and engineering of processing plants, as well as in the supply of proprietary technologies and equipment for the chemical industry.

Under a licensing agreement signed between Nextchem and Sustaero GP, Nextchem will provide its proprietary NX Circular technology for the biomass-to-syngas project. The project will produce purified chemical grade syngas from forest residues, which will then be used for subsequent conversion into SAF.

With an aim to expand its advanced materials and specialty chemicals capabilities, Sasol has decided to invest 60-million-euros at its Brunsbüttel site in Germany. The project will debottleneck and expand Sasol’s existing Advanced Materials alumina asset base in the region.

With an annual production capacity of 50,000 metric tons, Sinopec has commissioned a specialty polyvinyl alcohol resin facility at its subsidiary, Chongqing SVW Chemical Co. The new facility increases the site's total PVA production capacity to 210,000 metric tons per year, thus making it the world's largest single-site production base for high-end PVA.

WPU has selected Sulzer to provide its Pyrocon technology and engineering services for its new chemical recycling facility in the Netherlands. With a capacity to process up to 80,000 tonnes of mixed plastic waste per year, the new site is located next to Vitol’s VPR refinery in the Port of Rotterdam.

The ‘Best CO₂ Utilization 2026’ innovation award was awarded to three pioneering CCU and Power-to-X technologies at the CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2026 which was held in Cologne, Germany.
