Oxo chemicals manufacturer Oxea has appointed Dr. Salim Al Huthaili as the new chief executive officer of the company. Huthaili, 38, has built an impressive record of accomplishment and growth in his career in the chemical and process industry.

Borealis announces the appointment of Maria Ciliberti to the position of Vice President Marketing and New Business Development, Polyolefins, effective 11 July 2016. Ciliberti joins Borealis directly from Celanese Europe in Amsterdam, where she had served as Vice President Sales - Europe, Middle East and Africa for one year after having held the position at Celanese in Germany since 2012.

With an aim to support large-scale renewable hydrogen production in France, Air Liquide has acquired stake in H2V Normandy which intends to create a large-scale electrolyzer complex of up to 200 MW for the production of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen in the country.

Greenergy has plans to invest in Front End Engineering Design of a project to produce low-carbon transportation fuels from waste tires. The new facility is expected to process up to 300 tons of shredded tires each day to produce low-carbon fuels in the first phase. Global petroleum additive specialist Afton Chemical has opened its new production plant in Jurong Island, Singapore. The facility will now commence production of key components that are used in Afton Chemical’s engine oil additives to meet rising regional and global demand.

Sinopec has awarded Wood with an EPC contract for expanding its refinery in the Hainan Free Trade Zone in South China. On completion, the project is expected to produce up to one million tons of ethylene derivatives and refined oil annually.

A fire occurred at the Vindhya Organics chemical factory in Hyderabad, India after a chemical solvent caught fire. Eight workers were injured in the accident out of which three of them are in critical condition.

Fluor has recently re-organized its business structure and from the first quarter of 2021, the company will carry out its operations under three business segments – Energy Solutions, Urban Solutions and Mission Solutions. The firm also has plans to sell its maintenance services business as part of its new business strategy.
