IGP Methanol has awarded Haldor Topsoe a contract for engineering of a methanol plant that will produce 1.8 million tons per year, which is part of a planned complex with a total production capacity of 7.2 million tons per year.

Bestgrand Chemical Group has announced the successful start-up of its wet gas sulfuric acid (WSA) plant — the world’s largest with a production capacity of 300,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year. The plant will treat 131,000 tons of acid gas over-the-fence per year from the neighboring world-scale refinery plant operated by a joint venture between CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) and Shell in Huizhou City, China.

The new company will focus on the fast commercialization of new technologies and services and is expected to develop cost-effective NCA batteries for electric cars as its maiden project.

Haldor Topsoe announced its plan to close Topsoe Fuel Cell, a subsidiary company within the Topsoe group focused on the development and commercialization of components and technology for high temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC).

Tanzania wants to enter the fertilizer business: Public Tanzania Petroleum Development plans the construction of a new petrochemical fertilizer complex in the Tanzania South, together with Ferrostaal of Germany.

The carbon black producer Orion will use Haldor Topsoe's Snox technology for the flue gas treatment at their facility in Louisiana. The company has conducted in-depth analyses of the Snox process, including investigative site visits to existing Topsoe plants and testing the concept at one of their own manufacturing facilities since 2014.

Socar has chosen Haldor Topsøe as licensor for the ammonia process to be used for Azerbaijan's first combined ammonia-urea complex with a capacity of 2000 tonnes of urea and 1200 tonnes of ammonia per day. Korean Samsung Engineering is responsible for the overall construction of the complex.

Haldor Topsoe has signed a contract with Badr-e-Shargh Petrochemical Complex for licenses, engineering, proprietary equipment, materials and catalyst for their new methanol plant in Chabahar, Iran. It will be the first plant in a new industrial zone in the area.

Topsoe has been awarded by Technip FMC a contract for license and basic engineering of two gas-based ammonia plants for Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan (Hurl).

Topsoe has delivered licensed process technology, basic engineering, catalysts and services for the first greenfield methanol plant in the U.S. in many years. Located in Clear Lake, Texas, the plant is a 50/50 joint venture between Celanese Corporation and Mitsui, formally known as Fairway Methanol, and has an annual capacity of 1.3 million metric tons.
