Saudi Arabia: Project Update Sadara Announces Mechanical Completion of EO, PO Pipelines
The Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide (EO/PO) pipelines will distribute feedstock to various business tenants in PlasChem Park, an industrial park in Jubail, Saudi Arabia to produce diversified specialty chemical products.
Jubail/Saudi Arabia – Sadara Chemical Company (Sadara) recently marked the mechanical completion of its Ethylene Oxide / Propylene Oxide (EO/PO) Pipeline and Distribution Center Project for providing feedstock to tenants in the adjacent value park, ‘PlasChem Park.’
The two parallel feedstock pipelines will distribute EO and PO feedstock to various business tenants in PlasChem Park, enabling them to produce diversified specialty chemical products. The EO pipeline runs for about 6.8 kilometers (km), while the PO line runs for about 6.2 km. Both pipelines end at the PlasChem Park Oxide Distribution Facility.
Sadara’s EO and PO products will enable important applications for the Kingdom in a number of key downstream industries, including oil and gas field chemicals, construction materials, detergents, home and personal care products, water treatment chemicals, mining chemicals, coating and paint applications, pharmaceutical goods and animal feed, among others.
“The EO/PO pipeline transportation system will be the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,” said Dr. Faisal AlFaqeer, Sadara CEO. He added: “Our project serves as a significant driver of downstream manufacturing in the Kingdom. It’s a significant part of the Kingdom’s downstream transformation under Vision 2030, developing new business opportunities and thousands of new jobs in the chemical industry and related sectors.”
PlasChem Park is a 12-sq km industrial park in Jubail Industrial City II, dedicated to downstream chemical and conversion industries in Saudi Arabia. The Park is adjacent to Sadara’s Chemical Complex and is uniquely positioned to enable and support many Sadara-based downstream opportunities in many market segments, including the Chemicals Intermediates Cluster, Ethylene Oxide/Propylene Oxide (EO/PO) Cluster, Polyurethane Cluster and Polymers Cluster.
