With its innovative modular hydrogenation plant concept, Ekato sets new standards in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Specifically designed for small to medium batch sizes, the system combines maximum process flexibility, safety, and efficiency.

At the heart of the concept is a compact, modular design with adaptable configurations. Key components such as the hydrogenation reactor, feed- and catalyst preparation vessels, catalyst filtration unit, and product tank are available in various versions and can be easily tailored to different hydrogenation campaigns. This enables quick product changeovers and cost-effective production across varying batch sizes and hydrogenations, states the company.

A technical highlight is the high-performance Ekato hydrogenation reactor, equipped with an innovative combined gassing system. This ensures efficient dispersion of hydrogen-gas and intensive mixing within the reactor — a key advantage for reproducible and high-quality results in the hydrogenation of pharmaceutical ingredients, adds the firm. Thanks to the reactor’s excellent scalability, the system can be seamlessly adapted to both smaller and larger reactor volumes without compromising process safety or product quality.
