Force Majeure Repsol Had to Shutdown Its Olefins Cracker
Rapsol was forced to declare force majeure on ethylene and butadiene supply, due to an unforeseen technical issue at its Cracker in Tarragona/Spain.
Madrid/Spain – Repsol has declared force majeure on ethylene and butadiene supply, due to an unforeseen technical issue in the boiler of the cracker. Repsol’s olefins cracker shutdown will impact on the ethylene supply to Repsol’s derivative plants as well as its customers’.
Additionally, this will affect prior commitments to allocate the anticipated ethylene surplus resulting from the high density polyethylene plant shutdown scheduled for June.
Repsol’s nominal production capacity of ethylene in Tarragona is 702,000 tonnes per year.
