Industrial process systems company Ipco will use Inchem Tokyo 2025 to showcase its wide range of solutions for the chemical industry. Ipco is a world-leading supplier of high productivity systems for chemical processing, with applications ranging from chemical pastillation and film casting to press and scattering solutions for the production of composite materials.

Rotoform is Ipco’s flagship chemical solidification system with more than 2,500 lines installed worldwide. Solutions are available for sulphur, hot melts, resins, waxes, fat chemicals, bitumen, tar pitch and many more.

Rotoform systems are also available for applications such as abrasive and sedimenting materials (e.g. catalysts and suspensions); melts requiring a high feed temperature (e.g. bitumen, resins); subcooling melts (e.g. antioxidants for the tyre industry); and pharmaceuticals requiring GMP compliance.

Film casting with Venturi drying

Ipco has developed a continuous film casting system incorporating an innovative Venturi drying module for the production of very thin films to fine tolerances. A slot die applies the liquid product directly onto a polished stainless steel belt, which then passes through controlled drying segments where the solvent in the liquid is evaporated, shares the company.

As well as dry film casting to 10-300 μm, the process can also be used to produce high quality microporous membranes. Applications include the production of separator membranes and ceramic tapes used in Li-ion batteries, fuel cells and solid state batteries.

Super clean stainless steel belts

Applications like high precision thin film production require a steel belt surface of the highest quality and Ipco can supply special steel grades and surface finishes to meet different needs. These include a Super clean stainless steel material and a range of surface polishing technologies, backed up by specialist field services including belt repair and replacement.

Thermopress and Scatterpro systems for advanced composites

The company is a world-leading manufacturer of systems for the production of composite materials used in the automotive, aerospace, flooring, construction, non-woven, textile and recycling industries.

These include Thermopress multi-stage double belt presses, available with PTFE and/or steel belts and configurable to handle everything from low pressure consolidation to high pressure, high temperature applications such as thermoset/thermoplastic materials. Thermopress double belt presses are modular in design, enabling controlled heating, reaction, consolidation & calibration, cooling, and tempering processes to be incorporated into a single production system, adds the firm.

Another process solution designed for the production of high performance composites is Scatterpro, a range of precision scattering systems that can integrated with the company’s press and unwinding/rewinding systems to create complete, end-to-end process solutions.

Recent additions include the Scatterpro BX, developed for scattering the difficult-to-handle agglomerating powders used in dry process production of thin electrode layers, and the Scatterpro FX, a versatile, high productivity system capable of handling fibrous materials and dissimilar products (e.g. wood, foam, glass, plastic) without separating, explains the firm.
