Engis/Belgium – According to Prayon, preliminary studies have been completed and the decision made to build the plant on the Group's US site in Augusta, Georgia, supplementing the current SHMP production unit in Roches de Condrieu, France. The final phase of engineering studies are under way.

Projected capacity of the new SHMP unit is 10,000 tons/year. The project is part of Prayon’s growth strategy in the food sector and will support the strategic development in emerging markets such as Latin America and Asia.

It will enable the Group to meet growing customer demand for processed food applications as well as ever increasing internal needs for the manufacture of core products such as Carfosel (for meat and seafood applications) and Kasomel (for cheese), the company says.
