Floating Transfer Station FC Princesse Vittoria
Bedeschi has recently completed the commissioning of the Princesse Vittoria floating transfer station. This is actually a sister unit of Princesse Chloe, which is already in successful operation in Kalimantan, Indonesia, since 2011 for PT Mitra. This new Princesse Vittoria has two heavy duty offshore marine Liebherr cranes, which are used to transfer coal from barges berthed alongside into the receiving hoppers mounted on the floating transfer station. The hoppers are equipped with variable speed drive belt feeders, which evacuate the coal from the hoppers and feed it to a conveyors system leading to a shiploader. This retractable, luffing and slewing shiploader has a capacity of 2200 t/h, has an outreach of about 38 m and an airdraft of 19 m. It is fitted with a curved delivery chute, which can deliver coal into all parts of the holds of a cape size vessels, evenly without any broken space.
This unique design has been developed in conjunction with Logmarin Advisors and proved to be a major advantage especially for coal loading operations. Another important feature of the ship loader it that it has the capability to lift and transfer a bulldozer into the holds of the ocean going vessels for cargo compaction. These unique features stand out and give the floating transfer station an edge over any competition in terms of loading efficiency.
The placement of the cranes with respect to the hoppers is carefully designed to maximize the efficiency of the crane by way of minimizing the cycle time.
The Princesse Vittoria is also equipped with automatic sampling device, on line weighing system and metal detection system. It was constructed in Keppel Shipyard at Subic in the Philippines and the equipment installation and commissioning was supervised by Bedeschi technicians. The floating transfer station is now in successful operation in Kalimantan, Indonesia.
A New Coal Ship Loader for the FTS Bulk Celebes
Another recent completion of a project by Bedeschi is the engineering, supply and installation of a new ship loader for loading coal for a rechristened floating transfer station Bulk Celebes. The client had requested Bedeschi to study an existing floating transfer station operating in India and supply a new and efficient ship loader to enable it loading coal at 2200 t/h i.e. faster and efficiently. The new retractable ship loader, similar to the ones already operating in Indonesia, is equipped with a curved delivery chute supplied by Bedeschi and the floating transfer station was retrofitted in Singapore for coal loading operations in Indonesia.
Other than coal, Bedeschi has also recently completed the engineering, manufacturing, supply and erection of another large floating terminal for Vale named Ore Sossego. This transfer station will also be used to transfer iron ore from Valemaxes into cape size vessels or OBOs. The Ore Sossego is equipped 5 MPG cranes, of Liebherr make, and a cargo handling system comprising of 5 hoppers, of 50 m3 capacity each, equipped with variable belt drives feeders, conveyors and two ship loaders. The major difference between Ore Fabrica and Ore Sossego is that while shuttle vessel receiving the iron ore, on Ore Fabrica remains stationary and the ship loader moves and travels the length of the transhipper, in case of Ore Sossego the shuttle vessel will have to be warped alongside the transhippers and fed by two fixed ship loaders.
Bedeschi is also a member of Bulk Logistics Landmark (BLL) which is a consortium of Bedeschi, Liebherr and Logmarin. Bulk Logistic Landmark is a single-source supplier, providing state of the art expertise and technology for green dry bulk handling, storage, transshipment and waterway transport. BLL is founded on the synergies, the individual strengths and the networks of each of the three partners offering its clients a wider range of integrated services and products, as well as sparing them the trouble of interacting with many organizations. BLL helps its clients to optimise the flow of dry-bulk materials through cost effective solutions (shore terminal, storage facilities, floating terminals, self-discharging vessels, floating cranes, etc).
