Uncompromising filtration performance in challenging industrial applications—even at high flow rates—is what Eaton’s new Topcart HF filter cartridge housings deliver. The single-filter cartridge housings are equipped with 20" or 40" restrainer baskets. Multi-filter cartridge housings are available in configurations for 4, 7, or 11 filter cartridges. The 20" version is only available in the 4-round configuration and is vertically oriented. The 40" and 60" versions are available in all multi-round configurations and are horizontally oriented to ensure easy and ergonomic cartridge replacement. All housings in the Topcart HF range are designed for use with Eaton’s high-performance Lofpleat HF filter cartridges.

Suitable for a wide range of industrial applications in fine filtration—from pre-filtration before membranes to safety filtration and final product filtration—the filter cartridge housings can be configured to match the process requirements, shares the company. The housings support a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi (10 bar) and temperatures up to 250°F (120°C). All variants of the Topcart HF filter cartridge housings, including customized versions, are now commercially available. For specific applications, the housings are also available as engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions, adds the firm.

Bag-style performance with filter cartridge precision

The primary application of these housings is in industrial water treatment, such as cooling water systems, parts cleaning, and pretreatment for hydrogen production. Additional areas of use include the chemical industry, cooling or filtration applications in electronics and metal processing, oil and gas, data centers, power generation, and the pulp and paper industry. These applications typically involve high flow rates, which would normally require a large number of standard filter cartridges. This increases the risk of contamination on the filtrate side during cartridge replacement. To address this, the housings are designed for high-flow cartridges that operate on the bag-style filtration principle while delivering the performance of traditional filter cartridges, explains the company. The filtration direction is from the inside out, ensuring effective retention through the large, pleated filter surface area. When combined with Lofpleat HF filter cartridges, customers receive an ideal and complete, high-performance filtration solution from a single source, mentions the firm.

Ideal filtration results for industrial applications

With a high flow capacity of over 4,400 GPM (1,000 m³/h), the Topcart HF filter cartridge housings are engineered for industrial applications with the highest performance demands. The use of high-quality stainless steel for all product-contacting components ensures that the housings meet all requirements even in harsh environments and with challenging media. According to the company, the compact design, featuring an eye-bolt closure and glass bead-blasted surface, complies with all relevant standards and allows for integration into a wide range of industrial systems. Single- and multi-round versions are available with material certificates, specific testing requirements, ASME calculations, ASME U-Stamp certifications, and declarations of conformity according to the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), if required, concludes the firm.
