USA: CO2 Production Messer to Build New Carbon Dioxide Plant in California

Shortly after acquiring new companies in America, industrial gases specialist Messer is investing in the construction of a new CO2 plant in Keyes, California. The plant produces 450 tonnes of carbon dioxide per day and supplies companies in Northern California and the surrounding areas.

Bad Soden/Germany — Start-up is planned for the end of 2019. According to Jens Luehring, President and CEO of Messer America, the investment is in line with Messer's commitment to strategic expansion in the USA in order to meet growing market demand.

Carbon dioxide is mainly used in the food, beverage and electronics industries. It is used, for example, in sparkling beverages or in the soldering of electronic components.

The company strives to provide its customers with a reliable supply of industrial gases and is looking forward to breaking new ground with this plant in order to continue to meet this demand, says Luehring. The manufacturer currently operates two CO2 and two air separation plants in California.
