Italvacuum has manufactured vacuum pumps and vacuum dryers for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries since its establishment in 1939. The company supplies turnkey systems and bespoke equipment built to suit its customers’ needs.
At the top of the Italvacuum range is the Criox System, a patented double-cone rotary vacuum dryer that can deal directly with wet cake from filters and centrifuges. When drying is not required, the Criox System also acts as a rapid and effective blender for granular products. Setting the Criox System apart from other double-cone dryers are the two powerful lump breakers inside. These versatile devices improve mixing, cut drying time, and break down existing agglomerates in the feed material. They also stop new lumps from forming, to the extent that bulk products leaving the dryer typically require only a simple sifter downstream, or may even be bagged directly. Operating through the entire volume of product, the lump breakers considerably reduce drying time and ensure very low final moisture contents, yet also allow drying at temperatures that are typically below those required by other dryers. As a result, the Criox System is well-suited to heat-sensitive products.
Designed for use in multi-product plants, the Criox System is easy to clean. Smooth internal surfaces without dead spots ensure effective internal cleaning with low volumes of rinse liquid, and so enable rapid changeover between products. An optional large inspection port facilitates FDA-style swab testing, while sealed cladding guarantees external cleanliness. More than 400 Criox System units have been sold to date.
Vacuum tray dryers
Italvacuum tray dryers comprise a heated drying cabinet containing shelves which are heated by circulating fluid. The company’s Multispray tray vacuum dryers stand out for their build quality. Features include mirror-polished internal surfaces, precision door fitting which allows operation at high vacuum with very low leakage, and “particle-free” trays for complete recovery of powders.
