Initiatives such as the ‘Clean Ganga’ project and the 100 smart cities concept will also boost this segment. According to an information booklet titled ‘Eleven Mega Platforms of Modinomics’ by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association, one of the objectives of the `510 billion Ganga project is to provide zero
discharge of untreated sewer wastewater from 118 towns located on the banks of the Ganga. Next in line is the 100 smart cities project that will comprise of efficient wastewater management systems. Kasinathan says, “Automation in wastewater pumping and treatment plants will play a major role in the smart cities management concept.”
Both these projects will provide immense business opportunities to automation players in the wastewater industry. Goel agrees, “Owing to these projects, it seems inevitable that wastewater treatment plants with automation will be installed across major cities or industrial parks.” With all these parameters in mind, it is certain that the wastewater automation market is poised for growth!
