In the modern process, the product only goes through two processing stages: the DelumpWitt (replacing both the crusher and grinding equipment) and a subsequent blending Line. On just one unit, the powder products are raised by a lifting column up to a platform, where they are manually fed into the hopper of the DelumpWitt, deagglomerated and ground. They then flow in the form of homogeneous ground stock into a movable container. The scale-mounted container can be loaded with all processing agents and ingredients in a single step before its contents go through the final blending cycle on another lifting column.

Reduce Costs, Boost Production

The system that Frewitt set up for Novartis, on which agglomerates and lumps can be gently broken and ground to the preset particle size, brought about a number of substantial improvements. The following statements came from Novartis specialists:

  • The streamlined process enabled a 30% reduction in investment costs.
  • It was possible to save 500,000 Euros on the designing of the infrastructure.
  • Production was increased by 70%.
  • The new system takes up 50% less space.

For Novartis, the DelumpWitt led to improvements in the raw materials preparation for diabetes medications — a typical example for many other clients who use this device for pharmaceutical manufacturing, modernising productions in service of health.
