Four of Elkem plants at Salten, Rana, Thamshavn and Fiskaa in Norway have participated in a process industry strike which began yesterday – August 15. The strike has taken place due to the parties not being able to come to an agreement in the collective national negotiations between the Federation of Norwegian Industries and the trade union Industri Energi.
Elkem is now working to evaluate the operational impacts for each plant.

Oslo/Norway – Elkem’s plants at Salten, Rana, Thamshavn and Fiskaa have been included in the process industry strike in Norway which began on August 15. Elkem is now working to evaluate the operational impacts for each plant. Any impacts will also be influenced by the duration of the strike.
The industry strike is a result of the parties not being able to come to an agreement in the collective national negotiations between the Federation of Norwegian Industries and the trade union Industri Energi, facilitated by the State Conciliator of Norway.
In total, 1422 members of Industri Energi across ten companies will go on strike. This includes 169 workers at Elkem Salten, 89 at Elkem Rana, 131 at Elkem Thamshavn and 46 at Elkem Carbon. Elkem’s plants at Bremanger and Bjølvefossen and the company’s other activities in Norway are not included.
