Luxembourg: Nonwovens Dupont Invests $ 400 Million to Increase Nonwoven Capacity

Dupont Safety & Construction announced plans to invest more than $ 400 million to expand capacity for the manufacture of Tyvek nonwoven materials at its facility in Luxembourg. The production expansion, which will add a new building and third operating line at the site, is scheduled to start up in 2021.

Wilmington/USA — In 2017, Dupont celebrated the 50th anniversary of Tyvek, a e nonwoven material made of 100 % high-density polyethylene that is used for protection, security and safety purposes in a wide variety of industries and applications. Core segments include building envelope solutions, protective garments, medical packaging, graphics and protective packaging.

Global demand for the company's Tyvek brand continues to grow worldwide in all key end-use markets, said Rose Lee, President — Dupont Safety & Construction, adding that this capacity expansion plan was a critical step in growing this business and to maintain their market position. According to industry estimates, the global segments for potential Tyvek use total several billion dollars, the company announced.
