New Type of Oil-Injected, Variable-Speed Compressor
Atlas Copco Kompressoren und Drucklufttechnik is planning a “little surprise for the market” at this year’s ComVac show. That’s the word from Koen Lauwers, Vice-President Marketing at Atlas Copco’s Industrial Air division in Belgium. The company has developed a completely new type of oil-injected variable-speed compressor that it intends to unveil in Hannover.
“These machines offer major efficiency gains, are suitable for all applications, and will be priced within the reach of all types of customer,” Lauwers said. He noted that the new compressors were also much more compact than previous models and therefore took up far less floor space. Over the course of 2013, the company was planning to introduce several models with rated power inputs of up to 30 kilowatts.
Atlas Copco also plans to profile itself at Comvac as a one-stop provider for all industrial air and gas requirements. And it will easily meet this claim, given that its product range extends beyond compressors and blowers to include nitrogen and oxygen generators and even vacuum pumps. Its new GV vacuum pump system, for instance, operates in the 0.5 to 650 mbar(a) “rough vacuum” range and has a wide array of applications, including in printing and packaging, wood and plastics processing and the electronics industry.
Lauwers: “These days, practically every industrial manufacturer uses compressed air, and every second or third one also needs vacuum technology. Companies in the latter category can benefit from enormous synergies in servicing and maintenance if they buy both of these technologies from the same supplier.” All of which makes the Atlas Copco offering the perfect fit for Comvac’s core focus on efficiency.
