An Innovative Piece of Small Scale Synthesis

The GFD includes a control/drive with RPM reading, O-ring groove in the glass body to ease fitting of the basket and a mechanical agitator height adjustment system. The latter removes the effort when adjusting the agitator height in the slurry or cake in an accurate and repeatable manner, thanks to the scale by simply turning the hand wheel.

Talking about the advantages of GFD, Jean-Francois Deroubaix stated, “The first is definitely security; the possibility to work in a closed environment reduces the exposure. Another would be its easy operations. We are able to perform filtration, uniform washing of the cake with mechanical agitation (optimising the washing performance) and cake drying all in only one piece of equipment!”

Shielding the Operator From Dust Emissions

There has been a growing demand from users for more contained discharge method. The removable filtration basket allows a simple and straightforward recuperation of the dry powder, but when handling potent products the operator has to be shielded from the dust diffusion and the product from the surrounding atmosphere. To address these needs, PSL has developed FilterBox technology.

The FilterBox technology consists of a filter dryer being completely integrated within an isolator, providing high containment to nanogram levels when handling highly potent APIs and other active or cytotoxic compounds. The GFD FilterBox is an acrylic glovebox surrounding PSL’s LAB Glass Filter Dryer.
