Flexible and Easy Implementation
Greater flexibility when it comes to implementation and operation is another advantage of the new universal barriers. Last-minute changes to system requirements made in the late stages of project planning have hardly any impact in terms of time or cost, as these modifications can be implemented within minutes via the universal input card of a DCS. No DIP switches, no need to configure software — installation is simple, quick, and fault-free. The plant control system can easily be migrated during operation, without the need for downtime or lost output.
Simplified Maintenance, Servicing, and Storage
Reducing the range components required down to a single barrier type reduces the risk of using the wrong modules when setting up termination boards and equipping switch cabinets in a standardized manner. The amount of storage space required for the universal barrier as a replacement part is also reduced, as only one single multifunctional part needs to be kept in stock and retrieved in the event of maintenance or servicing work.
More options with fewer variants: The setup of pre-wired, standardized switch cabinets is guaranteed, regardless of the signal type. Switch cabinet layouts can be easily reproduced, so it is no longer necessary to constantly create new wiring plans, power supply calculations, and heating calculations.
Configuration and wiring errors are eliminated, project planning is made more flexible, the process to implement interfaces is accelerated, and the time required for factory acceptance tests is reduced to a minimum.
