Grupa Azoty has selected Thyssenkrupp Uhde to develop its new ammonium nitrate neutralization plant in Poland. The plant will be based on the natural circulation process in order to produce liquid ammonium nitrate.

Essen/Germany – Thyssenkrupp Uhde has been selected by Grupa Azoty of Poland to supply a new ammonium nitrate neutralization plant. Grupa Azoty is a key player on the European fertilizer and chemicals market and the second largest EU-based manufacturer of nitrogen and compound fertilizers. The new ammonium nitrate neutralization plant will be based on the natural circulation process and produce liquid ammonium nitrate (AN). The process will ensure precise control of the reaction parameters for highly efficient and sustainable plant operation.

For this project, Thyssenkrupp Uhde will be responsible for the licensing, basic engineering and supply of the process equipment as well as for technical consulting services for the detail engineering, construction, and commissioning. The chosen ammonium nitrate solution process is based on proven uhde technologies which have already been successfully implemented in over 50 commercial-scale plants around the world. These form the basis of Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s ammonium nitrate technology portfolio. The new ammonium nitrate neutralization plant will be constructed in Tarnow, Poland.
